Simplot Position on Foreign Market Import-Only Reviews of Innate® Potatoes

Jul 24, 2017

SPS International, a subsidiary of the J.R. Simplot Company, has filed applications with several international regulatory agencies to request import approval for Innate® biotech potatoes. To date, these markets include Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, and Taiwan. Authorization to grow Innate® potatoes in these markets is not being sought.

The applications are being filed as part of a responsible regulatory and stewardship program that is consistent with standard practices in the biotech industry and to enable potential future exports of potatoes and potato products to these markets. At this time, Simplot and its subsidiaries are not exporting Innate® potatoes to these markets as whole or processed potato food products or potato by-products and have no current plans to do so.
